At Diabetes SA, you can be part of the solution.

Diabetes SA is for people who wish to make a positive difference to people’s lives on a day-to-day basis.

Our culture is centred on treating those living with or at risk of diabetes, their families and each other with honesty, respect, dignity, tolerance and understanding.

People who work at Diabetes SA come from a variety of backgrounds: from health services to marketing, from administration and service industries, from education to fundraising and technology.

All staff and volunteers at Diabetes SA are educated about diabetes and its impact on the lives of individuals and the community as a whole.

Our staff and volunteers are encouraged to reach out to the community by participating in fundraising and diabetes awareness campaigns.

How to apply for a vacancy at Diabetes SA

Preparing your application

Writing an effective application is one of the keys to getting the job you want.

The advertisement and job description will describe the main aspects of the position and the skills required to effectively perform the job.

To prepare an effective application, you should read the job advertisement carefully and match it to your resume to clearly determine whether you possess the required skills and knowledge to apply.

Your application should consist of two things:

  1. A covering letter clearly addressing how you meet each of the selection criteria. It may be useful to include examples of how your past experience or qualifications will assist you in being successful within the role.
  2. A resume outlining your work experience, a summary of educational background and any professional development, together with your daytime telephone number. You may supply the names of referees who are able to comment on your work performance on your resume. Or if you are successful in gaining an interview, you may supply these names at that time.

Further information

If you require further information about the position or salary, please call our Administration & Compliance Officer on 1300 198 204.

Lodgement of application

Applications may be lodged in one of three ways:

  1. via SEEK as specified in the advertisement,
  2. send by post to Diabetes SA, GPO Box 1930, Adelaide, SA 5001,
  3. by facsimile (08) 8234 2013.

Review of applications

Following the closing date, all applications will be passed to the selection committee and a shortlist of applicants for interview will be agreed. The selection process at Diabetes SA is based on how well each candidate meets the advertised selection criteria, the background of each applicant and how each best fits with our culture and values. A shortlist of candidates for phone interview is then developed.

Interviews

Pending the outcome of the phone interview process, shortlisted applicants will be contacted by telephone and interview times arranged. This should usually happen within 2 weeks of the closing date. Due to the high level of applications received, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Selection

All shortlisted applicants will be asked a similar set of questions which are derived from the selection criteria. Selection of the successful applicant is based on the written application, responses to questions at interview and referee reports. The successful applicant will then be offered the position.

All employees who commence with Diabetes SA are required to provide a current Police Clearance Certificate.
