Natural disaster and emergency plan

Preparing a diabetes emergency plan and kit can help you avoid life-threatening situations in an emergency or natural disaster.

No matter where you live in Australia, severe weather events and natural disasters can happen anytime—especially in summer. Whether you live in a bushfire zone, cyclone region or city, it’s important to have a diabetes emergency plan and kit so you can:

  • self-manage your diabetes in the event of an emergency
  • reduce the impact of the emergency
  • recover more quickly after an emergency.
