World Diabetes Day Seminar 2020

Diabetes SA held a seminar with a focus on innovation and emerging trends in managing diabetes. All people with diabetes and their families or support person were invited to learn more about current and emerging practices in diabetes management and what the future looks like. Two concurrent seminars run with a focus on type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes.

Type 1 diabetes seminar

Dr Toby Coates – Endocrinologist

Dr Toby Coates presented 'Innovations in diabetes management'.

Shaun Johnson, CDE & RN

Shaun Johnson presented 'CGM and time in range, and newer insulin pump technology'.  

Type 2 diabetes seminar

Professor Chris Rayner

Professor Chris Rayner presented 'Innovations for type 2 diabetes relate to a range of up-and-coming injectable medications that mimic the actions of different gut hormones'.

Dr David Jesudason

Dr David Jesudason presented 'SGLT-2 inhibitors - the role and effectiveness of this medication for people living with type 2 diabetes'.
